Interested in canning?

Canning is a skill that has been typically passed down from generation to generation. However, recent generations have relied more on the convenience of a grocery store. The skill of canning has almost been lost!

People ask me why I can during the summer months? Have you looked in your pantry at the ingredients listed on the label of your canned food? Some of those ingredients I can’t even pronounce. If I can’t pronounce it, I’m certainly not going to eat it. I purchase Organic whenever possible. When I can produce from my own garden, I know there are NO pesticides and NO added ingredients.

Canning offers the ability to store food in the winter, like a squirrel. Guess who is not going to the grocery store in the cold winter, ME! However, my husband may go after a few staples.

With the rising prices of groceries and the uncertainty of the winter, you can be assured you have food for your family. What happens when there’s a food shortage?

I realize not everyone has a garden, but most cities offer a Farmer’s Market during the summer. All you need to do is grab a canner and learn. Right? It’s easy and once you understand it, you’ll be happy you have food during the winter. Home-canned food honestly tastes much better. So much so, that my kids are spoiled and refuse to eat certain store-bought food!

Happy Canning and Summer Fun!
